Inside The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) there is Ngorongoro Crater. This is a protected area and a World Heritage Site located 180 km (110 mi) west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera within the area.
Located on the way to Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti – Lake Manyara National Park is located both in Arusha Region and Manyara Region, Tanzania. The two administrative regions have no jurisdiction over the parks. The park is governed by the Tanzania National Parks Authority.
Located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is a lovely, quiet park in Northern Tanzania. It is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania, it is located in Manyara Region. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park.
Mount Kilimanjaro with its three volcanic cones, “Kibo”, “Mawenzi”, and “Shira”, is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa and tallest free standing mountain in the world, about 4,900 metres from its base to 5,895 metres above sea level.
I was in Tanzania almost 3 months in 2017 and WET was by far the best tour company I came across there in my time. I started off with seeing a lot of the smaller local sites around the Arusha area and then eventually decided to go with WET for my safari as well. The price is always reasonable and you’re guaranteed to have a guide who is truly has a wealth of local knowledge. Furthermore, you’ll have an absolute ball with the crew who are all absolutely hilarious!!!
Dismas Kimaro a.k.a “Tiger” led a group of us on a 6 day bike trip around the base of Kilimanjaro. He’s a great guide and the trip is beautiful, highly recommended. This type of trip through rural Tanzania would be hard to organize without knowing the local language and geography. Dismas found accommodations (mostly camping) and knows the area and locals very well. Especially great was the trip to Lake Challa. We would highly recommend this tour very much.
I recommended Wildlife Experience Tanzania – WET, to everyone I came across in Tanzania or who was planning on going. Its nice to have met a guide that you could 100% trust and know would honestly try and offer you the best experience one could get out of each day!!!! Unforgettable experience that I’ve recommended to so many other people since i got back. Dismas Kimaro (The Director) made this what it was, he looked after us the whole trip and that personal touch made it what it was.
