A guide to where to GO to see the Serengeti’s Great Migration in July or August.

Firstly, where are the herds? July is another moving month as the herds continue their big push north to the dry season grazing grounds of the northern Serengeti and Maasai Mara. At the beginning of the month the herds are tricky to predict, but the later into June you get the easier predicting the herds becomes. July always signals the first of the mega crossings of the Mara River.

For the first two weeks of July, the focus should be the western corridor/centre of the park and Lobo in the north – a time of year where I would suggest splitting your time in the park between two camps in two different areas. For the last two weeks of July the focus should be firmly in the north with Lobo a focus as well as the Mara River area around Kogatende and the Lamai Wedge with the expectation of river crossings. 7 DAYS – RIVER CROSSING SAFARI
